Bartons was originally established in 1965, when Dennis Brown opened his first Accounting Practice in Jetty Road, Glenelg. Since then the business has grown, expanding its client base from the local area to the whole of South Australia, and now the whole of Australia. Along the way, specialists have come into the team, whose experience has enabled us to develop into a fully integrated accounting and financial services firm.

The current leadership team is Chris Waples, Leanne Carnegie-Smith, Stuart Brown and Adam McCann. Each of the Directors brings a unique skill set to assist our clients in achieving their financial goals. Leanne is our superannuation specialist, whilst Chris and Adam have a long history of servicing medical professionals in accounting, business and risk services. Stuart heads up our financial planning division. They work very closely together to bring their complementary services together to work on behalf of our clients.

Why ‘Bartons’? The name Bartons came about as the company grew. With a long-term outlook, it was decided that a name which reflected our country and our clients would be in keeping with our values, and thus the company was named after the first Prime Minister of Australia, Edmund Barton.
